Currency exchange with delivery to your home or hotel in Buenos Aires: how it works and how to stay safe

Exchange with delivery is when the exchange house's courier brings pesos or dollars to your home, hotel or office, and you hand over your currency, or transfer USDT or rubles. It is convenient if you don't want to travel around the city with cash, but there is more to check: who the exchange house is, who the courier is, what the final rate is once delivery is included, and who pays first. How exchange with delivery works

• You write to the exchange house: what you are exchanging, the amount, your address and a convenient time.
• The house gives you the rate and the final amount the courier will bring, plus the delivery cost (if any).
• The courier arrives and the exchange happens on the spot: you count the money and hand over your currency. When exchanging USDT or rubles, the transfer is made at the time of the meeting or as agreed. How to calculate the rate with delivery

don't compare the rate, compare the amount of pesos in your hand:

• total = amount of currency × the exchange house's rate − delivery cost − commission (if any)
• compare it with what you would get at an exchange house with an office (the rate on "Rates" in ArgHub) plus the trip
• ask whether the rate holds at the time of the meeting or is "whatever it is when I arrive": the rate can change in a day.

How to check the exchange house

• Track record: how long it has operated, whether it has an office, reviews, how fast it replies.
• Contact channels: one official number or account, the one listed on the card. Scammers create look-alike accounts with a similar name: write to the contacts on the card, not to ones from forwarded messages.
• BCRA registration: check whether the exchange house is registered with the BCRA: the list of casas de cambio authorized by the BCRA is open at bcra.gob.ar/casas-de-cambio. If you work with a private exchanger, agree the terms and the rate in advance and meet in a safe place.
• Terms in writing: the rate, the amount and the delivery cost, in the chat.

How to check the courier

• Ask the exchange house to send you the courier's name and arrival time in advance; check them at the meeting.
• Do the exchange in the hotel lobby, at reception or in a busy place, not out on the street by the door.
• Don't let strangers messaging from a "different" number into your apartment.

Who pays first in an exchange with delivery?

The safest option is a simultaneous exchange on the spot. If you are exchanging USDT or rubles by transfer:

• transfer after the courier has arrived and you have counted the cash
• for a first deal, use a small amount
• don't agree to "transfer now, the courier leaves after payment" from a new exchange house.

Signs of a scam in an exchange with delivery

• A rate clearly better than the market.
• They demand a prepayment, and then an "extra charge for delivery" or "insurance".
• They message you first on a messenger after your question in a group chat.
